Our story
That Coffee
Rooted in Origin
A specialty coffee company built on meaningful relationships with the people behind every harvest. Sourced across Nagaland, Chikmagalur and Coorg, shaped by the character of each origin, and brought to life in Karnal, Haryana.
Chapter 01
Our story
Two Siblings. Four Generations of farming. A Shared Pursuit.
Hardik and Jagriti are fourth generation farmers. Long before That Coffee took shape, there was a generational understanding of the land: the patience it demands, the care it requires, and what it means to grow something well, season after season. Growing up close to agriculture shaped their respect for the people behind every harvest and their belief that the story of a crop deserves as much consideration as its final expression.
That Coffee began in Karnal, Haryana, far from India’s traditional coffee growing regions, with a distinct point of view: Indian specialty coffee deserves a narrative of its own. One grounded in direct relationships with Indian growers, a considered appreciation of origin, and a commitment to letting the coffee speak for itself.
We source directly, roast with intention, and work with people who share our regard for quality. From the growers who nurture each harvest to the hands that prepare the final cup, every part of the journey deserves its due.
Chapter 02
What We Do
From the estates where our coffee begins to the spaces where it is brewed and experienced, every part of That Coffee is built around quality, traceability, and a deeper appreciation for the cup.
Chapter 03
Where our coffee comes from
We source directly from estates across three distinct Indian coffee growing regions, building relationships with the people behind each harvest. With a closer connection to origin, we place greater value on responsible sourcing, ethical practices, and sustainable cultivation. Every coffee carries the character of its landscape and the work, knowledge, and care that brings it to life.

Sourced from Lithanro Estate, in one of India’s least documented coffee growing regions. This is an origin with a story still finding its place in the specialty coffee conversation. We believe it deserves to be understood on its own terms, through the character of its land, the people who cultivate it, and the work behind each harvest. To bring that story closer, we created Nagaland Nuggets, a documentary series filmed at the estate. Beyond the cup, it follows the landscape, the people, the harvest, and the decisions that shape the coffee long before it reaches you. An account of origin, told where it begins.

From the highlands of India’s historic coffee belt comes a distinctive expression of Arabica. Among its origins is Kerehaklu Estate, Aldur, the single origin at the heart of A Walk with Kivi.

The highlands that shape our signature profiles, lending depth to Grand Arabica and structure to our espresso roasts.
Farm to cup
Handpicked at origin, sustainably sourced, roasted in small batches.
At the estate, where every coffee begins. Direct relationships with the people behind each harvest.
Each lot, understood on its own terms. Roasted in India to reveal its inherent character.
From our roasters to homes, cafés, and businesses that make quality part of their standard.
The final expression of every decision before it. Brewed with precision, served with intention.
Chapter 04
Every cup, traceable to the estate it calls home. Because origin should be more than a name on a bag.
We believe an origin finds its identity by understanding its own landscape, not by emulating another’s. For emerging coffee regions, that means working with the land on its own terms, respecting its growing conditions, and allowing its individuality to shape the coffee. Because a true sense of origin is cultivated, not borrowed.
Chapter 05
Where we’re headed
Deeper into India
Extending our reach across India’s café landscape through considered wholesale partnerships and CaféOS. Taking the learnings from our own coffee space and translating them into better systems, stronger operations, and more thoughtful coffee experiences for operators across the country.
Outward from origin
Bringing coffees from estates like Lithanro to international roasters and buyers, creating direct pathways from lesser known Indian origins to a wider specialty coffee audience.
As our reach expands, our point of reference remains unchanged: the land where each coffee begins, and the relationships that connect it to the world.
